Bangkok Hotel -- Bangkok Marriott Resort and Spa

We thought it would be fun to share some pictures of our hotels along the way. We've picked a range of lodging for this trip, from cheaper B&Bs to nice international resorts.  Safety was a constant consideration (hi Moms!), so even though $5/night options were abundant, we erred on the side of caution.

Our first stop was the beautiful Bangkok Marriott Resort and Spa. We loved it! It is situated outside of downtown and across the river, but the quiet location with a semblance of good air quality was nice after a long, hot day in dusty Bangkok.

Our room (circa 3am):

This canal runs through the hotel.  Apparently, crocodiles are known to stop by for a visit (though thankfully not while we were there).  Hotel guests apparently get a kick out of the crocs, but as you can imagine, management is less than thrilled!

Bangkok is situated on the Chao Phraya River, and many of the nicer hotels provide a shuttle boat to a downtown pier where water taxis can be found.
